Meet the Team

Jeff Shropshire

Principal/Agent

I grew up in Lubbock, Texas, and graduated from Texas Tech University. Wreck ’em! I started my insurance career as a claims representative for Aetna, where I spent two and a half years learning how claims really work from the inside. In 1996, I joined The Shropshire Agency as an agent, and today I serve as President of Shropshire Insurance of Texas. I love helping people, and I have the experience and the drive to help protect businesses and families from financial disasters.

I hold a Risk Manager’s license for the State of Texas . I’m also a co‑host and one of the owners of Risk Raiders, a Texas‑based podcast that uses real‑life stories to explore how people, families, and businesses face risk in everyday life. Risk Raiders is produced independently from Shropshire Insurance of Texas, but the conversations are shaped by many of the situations I’ve seen over my career.

I love being outside, especially if it includes spending time with my family. It could be mowing the yard, playing tennis with my son, or just lounging in a hot tub or swimming pool. I love to talk about lessons learned from Ted Lasso. I also enjoy music, especially live music, and I’ve been known to play the drums.

Kelly Shropshire

I grew up right here in Lubbock, Texas! I have a degree in Marketing from Texas Tech, and  I help our agency bring the perspective of a typical insurance buyer. I always cheer everyone on and ensure they have the best experience in an industry that can be complicated.  I love connecting with people and helping them feel secure about their most valuable treasures.

I kind of have an addiction to following Instagram influencers and everything Christmas.

❤????❤

You can usually find me with my family, which is pretty magical. My favorite way to spend my weekend is “going” – I like to be on the move

????✈

I currently serve on the Lubbock Symphony Guild Board.  I love any not for profit that helps children.

Amy Scott

Account Executive

My name is Amy Scott, and I serve as a Commercial Account Manager at Shropshire Insurance of Texas, where I bring more than 13 years of experience in the insurance industry to the clients and businesses we serve throughout Lubbock and across Texas.

I grew up in Red Oak, Texas, a small country town south of Dallas, and attended Ovilla Christian School, where I learned the importance of integrity, service, and strong community values. I began my insurance career as the secretary of a local agency and gradually worked my way into personal lines insurance, building a solid foundation in client service and policy management. Over time, I transitioned into commercial insurance, where I now focus on supporting more complex accounts, coverages, and risk management needs for business owners.

What I enjoy most about working in insurance is the people and the strong emphasis on customer service. The industry is constantly evolving, which keeps my work engaging and rewarding. Since living in Lubbock, Texas, I’ve come to truly appreciate the close-knit community and the genuine kindness of the people here.

Outside of work, I’m a big movie lover—if my family would let me, I’d watch one every day. I also enjoy listening to true crime podcasts. When I’m not in the office, you’ll usually find me spending time with my family and embracing the chaos that comes with having two boys. We love being outdoors hunting and camping, which has given us some of our favorite family memories. I’m also passionate about giving back to the community and proudly support High Point Village, a nonprofit organization here in Lubbock whose mission and impact truly inspire me.

Ilene Nelson Hobgood

Personal Lines Manager

I grew up in Wolfforth Texas and I’m still there! Being raised on a farm, I have lots of experience in the Ag community. Come this October 1st, I’ll have been working in the insurance business for 24 years. Personal lines and Farm and Ranch policies are my specialty. It may be short and sweet, but my passion is helping people be smart with their assets and protect them from disaster.

My passion in this stage of my life revolves around my six Grandbabies.  And yes, I talk about them too much. My guilty pleasure is sports, but I doubt that would surprise my clients. On the weekends, I can be found out and about having lunch with my girlfriends, at home babysitting my babies, or spending time at Church. I love children, and I volunteer as much as I can with Wolfforth Methodist Church, showing them the love of Jesus.

Ceil Boatman

Commercial Customer Service Representative

I’m Ceil Boatman, and I work as a Commercial Customer Service Representative at Shrophire Insurance of Texas, supporting businesses and organizations across Texas with reliable, personalized insurance solutions. I take pride in helping our commercial clients navigate policies, coverage options, and service needs with confidence.

I grew up in Tucumcari, New Mexico, and earned a business degree from Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) while playing four years of collegiate volleyball. Those experiences taught me teamwork, discipline, and a commitment to excellence—qualities I bring to every commercial insurance account I support.

I’ve been part of the insurance industry since July 1982, and I continue to work part-time, specializing in commercial accounts. I especially enjoy managing the agency’s church and nonprofit book of business, helping organizations secure the right coverage so they can focus on their mission without worrying about risk. My faith in Jesus Christ guides how I approach my work, encouraging integrity, care, and service in every interaction.

Outside of work, I stay active and engaged in my community—spending time with grandbabies, co-teaching Adult II Sunday School, and supporting Samaritan’s Purse.

At Shrophire Insurance of Texas, I’m proud to support commercial insurance clients throughout Texas, delivering dependable service and expertise that businesses and organizations can trust.

Kendra Kimberlin

Underwriting Support

I’m Kendra Kimberlin, and I work in Underwriting Support at Shrophire Insurance of Texas, serving clients across Texas. I’m proud to be part of a team that delivers thoughtful, reliable insurance solutions throughout the state.

I grew up between West Texas and Central Texas, with Lubbock, Texas at the center of my story. From Frenship Elementary and Melonie Park Church to summers spent on my family’s farm in Lorenzo, Texas, I learned early the value of hard work, accountability, and community. Returning to Lubbock as an adult—while pursuing a degree at Texas Tech University—was both practical and personal. It’s a place that rewards people who show up, stay curious, and get things done.

With four years of experience in the Texas insurance industry, I enjoy working in a field that’s constantly changing and deeply impactful. What excites me most is helping create stability for others. When insurance is done right, it removes uncertainty and gives people the freedom to grow—whether in life, business, or real estate.

Outside of work, I’m rarely still. I love sand volleyball, gardening, home and real estate projects, and figuring out how systems—homes, businesses, or coverage—work better. I’m also passionate about giving back and support organizations like Texas Girls & Boys Ranch and High Point Village, because strong communities matter.

At Shrophire Insurance of Texas, I’m proud to be part of a team that serves Lubbock and communities across Texas with intention, accuracy, and long-term commitment.

With over four decades of experience as a licensed insurance agent, I am passionate about helping individuals and families find the right coverage to meet their unique needs. My guiding principle is simple: do it the right way, for the right reasons, to achieve the best results.
