One of the number one ways we’re seeing that occur in the industries now is through the infiltration through somebody’s email system. Email systems are highly vulnerable for businesses if updates are not kept on a regular basis and you’re not having multi-factor authentication, some call it MFA. That is where you have a password, but then you also get the little blip notice on your phone that it’s you and all that good stuff. It’s a pain in the butt to have. There’s no doubt about it, but the reality is, is that it works.

But regardless of even at that, these little dweebs in the basement are costing businesses a lot of money with having claims, so we always suggest that you make sure that your email systems are updated, make sure you have MFA turned on and everybody is using it. And at the backup side, you do need to look at cyber insurance. It’s not near as expensive as you think. It’s important that you find an agent that understands cyber. That would be us.
